«Among different kind of material I have always had a predilection for metals, the precious ones as well as the “poor” ones. I like observing their different shades and lights until they seem to be alive.
When I hold a piece of metal in my hands it is not always that I immediately know what form to give it.I turn it round and round to observe it from all its angles. Then suddenly – as an answer to the dialog between us – its definite form appears and I have then just to try to realize it.
I feel strong emotions when I assemble different metals or different metals with materials completely dissimilar to one another, like plastic, glass, wood, rubber and even horsetail.

Annette Nielsen was born in Copenhagen, but has lived for more than 20 years in Italy.

First in Rome where she studied ceramic at ceramist Giacobetti’s workshop then moved to the Venetian region, where for several years she did research on geometric forms working in clay in her studio near the lagune.

For a short period she participated in a painting course at Hoejskole Dannebod in Denmark.

Back again in Italy, for several years she attended courses in goldsmithing held by Francesco Pavan, Graziano Visentin and Renzo Pasquali at Istituto d'Arte Selvatico, in Padua.

Her works are displayed and sold in Italy as well as in Denmark.
